Mamadoc gives back

Growing up, frequent travel to third world countries provided firsthand exposure to poverty and sickness. Even then, there was a strong desire to help, although the way to do so was not yet clear. Recently, the book Half the Sky inspired a dream of traveling to impoverished nations to help deliver babies, operate on women who have been injured in childbirth, and teach basic obstetric skills. Right now, the goal is to make a difference. In the US, access to prenatal care and hospitals is widely available. Other women, however, are not so fortunate. Women may die in childbirth because they lack access to care or cannot afford medical services. This should not be the case. Birth should be miraculous no matter where it occurs. Everyone can help. MamaDoc is focused on women, their babies, and caring for the environment. A portion of proceeds is donated to the International Medical Corps to provide women with Caesarean section kits, midwife kits, toiletries, and access to better-trained doctors and midwives. These resources help women experience safer deliveries and reduce unnecessary maternal and fetal deaths. Women can support one another and protect their children. A real difference can be made.
